DevOps Systems Engineer - Trading​/Forex

• Monitor, support, and maintain computer systems and financial trading platforms
• Operate as part of the global support team, providing coverage across all sites and data centers
• Develop and implement tools (bespoke and third-party) to automate key areas of software engineering and delivery
• Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Strategic and operational

Primarily accountable for the support and maintenance of all trading applications, alongside the development and implementation of tools to automate key software engineering processes. These include monitoring, continuous integration, testing, environment deployments, and releases. Also responsible for scripting routine manual tasks to enhance ongoing business processes.

Application Systems and Platform Support

• Support, monitor, enhance, and operate both retail and institutional financial trading platforms, as well as other in-house applications.
• Manage service delivery in line with ITIL standards for incident and problem management, escalating where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with in-house Development and QA teams to align technical solutions with business and front office needs.
• Coordinate and implement changes, patches, updates, and releases across applications.
• Administer and improve monitoring tools to ensure optimal application availability and performance. Promptly identify and address outages or ongoing risks.
• Develop and deploy automated scripts to standardize routine operational checks and tasks.
• Support the line manager in identifying gaps within the support and service management framework and assist in implementing both temporary and permanent resolutions.
• Contribute to the creation of automation tools and scripts aimed at optimizing backend infrastructure.
• Provide both onsite and remote user support as required.
• Troubleshoot issues across core, trading, and niche applications from end to end.
• Demonstrate adaptability and a strong willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
• Participate in out-of-hours and on-call support as needed.

• BSc IT, Computer Science or Engineering discipline.

• Proven experience supporting both Windows and Linux-based applications.
• Hands-on support experience with Windows and Linux servers across virtualised, cloud-based, and bare metal environments (advantageous).
• Development and scripting skills in one or more of the following:
  Python (preferred), C++, C#, Java, Power Shell, Ruby.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Puppet, Docker, Bamboo, Terraform, Kubernetes and Git Lab
• Minimum of six years’ experience in user support and systems management within multicultural and multinational environments.
• Previous exposure to low-latency, high-frequency infrastructure environments is a strong advantage.
• Experience and familiarity with Postgre
  
  SQL is desirable.
• Exposure to working with heterogeneous database technologies.
• Knowledge and experience with cloud technologies is preferred.
• Prior experience supporting Forex and Equity trading platforms is an added advantage.
• Possession of IT certifications such as ITIL Foundation, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, and Systems & Security accreditations is highly desirable.

• Able to perform under pressure and meet the demands of high-expectation, cross-border clients.
• Strong multitasking ability with a proven track record of delivering applications and projects on time.
• In-depth understanding of the FIX protocol and its use in FX trading environments.
