NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Assistant to support Prof. Sunil Kumar's Research Group in advancing AI-driven healthcare technologies. The role focuses on computer vision, multimodal learning, digital twins, and predictive modeling using imaging, molecular, and sensor data.

• Develop and refine computer vision models, segmentation pipelines, and retrieval-based estimators
• Build monocular depth pipelines and multimodal retrieval systems with re-ranking components
• Design and train AI models for healthcare digital twins, including 3D learning, predictive modeling, and uncertainty-aware outputs
• Work with 3D datasets, sensor time-series, multi-omics data, and imaging-driven simulation models
• Maintain reproducible codebases, datasets, and ML experiments with proper version control
• Create deployment-ready artifacts such as Docker containers and CI/CD workflows; assist with HPC and cloud training
• Support pilot studies, conduct data annotation workflows, and coordinate lab assay activities
• Prepare technical reports, research publications, and presentations

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related fields
• Strong hands-on experience training AI/ML models
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch or Tensor Flow
• Experience with dataset curation, annotation pipelines, embeddings, retrieval systems, FAISS, and RAG-style pipelines
• Familiarity with GPU workflows, HPC environments, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
• Background in computer vision, multimodal ML, biomedical AI, or digital twin modeling
• Understanding of uncertainty quantification and explainability tools
• Solid grasp of software engineering practices including Git, modular code, and containerization
• Strong communication skillset and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams
