Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Student Systems Applications Specialist with expertise in Student Information Systems (SIS), including Ellucian Banner, People Soft, and other higher education applications. The successful candidate will serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for the institution’s SIS and related student lifecycle platforms, ensuring system reliability, continuous improvement, and effective user adoption.
Working closely with Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, and Student Success teams, the role involves supporting, optimizing, and integrating student‑related applications while ensuring efficient service delivery. The position may also require managing multiple client environments and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance student experience, operational excellence, and institutional effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Serve as the functional and technical owner of the Student Information System (SIS) and related student lifecycle applications.
- Administer, configure, and support student‑facing and academic administration systems including Admissions Management, Academic Catalog and Curriculum, Student Success and Retention Platforms, e‑Certificate and Digital Credentialing, Graduation and Degree Audit Systems, Student Portal and Self‑Service Applications.
- Lead application lifecycle management activities including implementation, upgrades, testing, release management, and vendor coordination.
- Manage integrations between the SIS and related enterprise applications including LMS, CRM, Finance, HR, Identity Management, and Reporting platforms.
- Support data synchronization, API integrations, middleware configurations, and data exchange processes across institutional systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities and implement technology solutions that enhance student experience.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for SIS‑related systems and coordinate vendor escalations when required.
- Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and deployment of new student services applications.
- Monitor application performance, availability, and service levels to ensure compliance with institutional and contractual requirements.
- Support multiple customer environments and institutions by maintaining system configurations, documentation, and service standards specific to each client.
- Participate in cross‑functional initiatives related to digital transformation, student experience enhancement, and process automation.
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, privacy regulations, and institutional policies across all supported applications.
- Act as a trusted advisor to institutional stakeholders on student systems capabilities, best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Act as a liaison between software vendors and customer institutions for application‑related initiatives, service delivery, and issue resolution.
