Job Summary
The Business Information Technology Department is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to support students and faculty in delivering practical learning experiences. The successful candidate will assist and monitor students during lab sessions, prepare comprehensive lab manuals, and facilitate hands‑on learning across a variety of Data Science and IT tools. Additionally, the Lab Assistant will mentor students through individual assignments and group projects, contributing to their academic progress and professional development.
Key Responsibilities- Support and facilitate laboratory sessions in various areas of computer science and information technology.
- Assist with hands‑on demonstrations of software tools, programming environments, and IT systems to enhance student understanding of course content.
- Prepare, update, and maintain lab manuals, instructional materials, and relevant documentation to support lab activities.
- Collaborate with faculty in developing and aligning lab exercises with course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and instructional strategies relevant to computer science and IT education.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well‑equipped lab environment by managing lab resources, equipment, and software installations.
- Provide academic support and mentorship to students during lab sessions, and project consultations.
- Guide students through the successful completion of lab assignments, group projects, and practical exercises.
- Support assessment and evaluation processes by providing feedback on student participation and lab performance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
- In-depth understanding of core Computer Science and IT concepts, including programming, web development, databases, networking, data science, and data structures.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, and scripting tools.
- Skilled in using development tools like Rapid Miner, Net Beans, and other integrated development environments (IDEs).
- Hands‑on experience with IT systems, networking, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cloud platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with students, faculty, and staff.
- Familiarity with data science tools, software engineering practices, and cybersecurity fundamentals is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
- 1‑3 years of experience in a relevant role.
