Data Center Engineer – System & Cloud

Responsible for defining and implementing the cloud strategy using a comprehensive view, ensuring it fulfils EWEC requirements. The role includes managing on‑premises and cloud systems, OT environments, and data centre infrastructure including servers, storage, backup systems, racks, and monitoring tools.

The role is responsible for designing, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of on‑premises and cloud infrastructure services. It ensures high availability, disaster recovery readiness, performance optimisation, automation of operations, accurate documentation and compliance with security, regulatory and operational standards.

Job Specific Responsibilities
  • Define and implement cloud strategy aligned with EWEC requirements.
  • Manage on‑premise IT/OT systems and cloud infrastructure architecture, installation, configuration and maintenance.
  • Design, plan, execute and support cloud infrastructure services and hybrid environments.
  • Operate, monitor and maintain data centre infrastructure including servers, storage, backup systems, racks and monitoring tools.
  • Ensure high availability of systems and services across cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Support disaster recovery readiness, including planning, execution, testing and documentation of results.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities across data centre and infrastructure systems to minimise downtime.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, migrations, installations and decommissioning of infrastructure components.
  • Manage capacity planning across cloud and data centre environments, ensuring scalability and optimal resource utilisation.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics, KPIs, SLAs and system health indicators, ensuring compliance and reporting.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Manage and support incident, problem and change management processes in line with ITIL practices and ISO 20000.
  • Lead automation initiatives for operational tasks, monitoring, health checks and infrastructure management.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of infrastructure documentation including CMDB records, asset inventories, system diagrams and rack layouts.
  • Perform full asset life‑cycle management including installations, upgrades, replacements, decommissioning and Requests for Disposal (RFD).
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors during maintenance, support and installation activities.
  • Monitor environmental conditions in data centres (temperature, power, cooling) and escalations when required.
  • Support implementation of energy‑efficient practices to reduce data centre power consumption and carbon footprint.
  • Support internal and external audits including regulatory, vendor and compliance assessments, ensuring proper evidence and reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to security, regulatory, operational and compliance requirements for IT and OT environments.
  • Support system integration, testing, acceptance testing and validation of infrastructure and services.
  • Provide operational support outside working hours and during weekends when required to ensure service continuity.
  • Support and contribute to Business Impact Analysis (BIA) activities to identify critical systems, dependencies and recovery priorities for IT and OT environments.
  • Ensure legacy OT systems are properly assessed, documented and maintained, including understanding technical constraints, risks and life‑cycle considerations.
  • Manage and support integration of legacy OT systems with modern cloud and infrastructure platforms, ensuring stability, security and continuity of operations.
  • Ensure disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) strategies are aligned with BIA‑defined criticality levels of systems and services.
  • Identify risks associated with ageing or end‑of‑life OT infrastructure and propose mitigation, upgrade or replacement strategies.
  • Perform daily backup monitoring, verification, restoration support and escalation to ensure data protection, availability and compliance with backup policies.
