We are seeking a BMS Engineer who will be responsible for leading the monitoring and operation of the data center’s critical infrastructure. This role ensures optimal performance and a rapid response to any events, with support from L1 or L2 NOC/BMS Operators. The BMS Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the uptime and efficiency of data center operations by overseeing the effective operation of all power, environmental, and fire protection systems, ensuring optimal conditions for IT equipment at all times.
KeyAccountabilities
- Monitor and operate the data center infrastructure management systems in the NOC room, including BMS, EMS, SCADA, DCIM, and FAS, ensuring all power, cooling, HVAC, and other systems function within specified parameters.
- Ensure the data center infrastructure management systems are fully operational and free of communication errors; report any system health issues immediately and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve and restore functionality.
- Analyze data from infrastructure systems to proactively identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Conduct regular checks on all data center management systems in the NOC room to maintain system and equipment reliability and accuracy at all times.
- Oversee the data center infrastructure management system network and monitor network infrastructure, including system servers, workstations, switches, routers, and other critical hardware, to ensure reliable NOC/BMS operations.
- Ensure compliance with data center operational control guidelines and report any inefficiencies that may affect performance, reliability, or sustainability.
- Adjust system parameters to maintain optimal conditions, with guidance and approval from the Operations Engineer or Site Operations Manager; maintain detailed logs of any changes made using company-assigned tools and registers.
- Verify that the NOC room setup is correct, including functional systems, active alarm prioritization methods, and video wall configuration as per set standards.
- Maintain a tidy, clean NOC room with proper cable management to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensure the escalation matrix is available, well-understood, and accurate to facilitate effective incident management and response.
- Monitor network performance and availability, responding promptly to alerts and issues to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with internal teams and external vendors regarding system status, issues, and resolutions to ensure everyone is informed and aligned.
- Coordinate with operations engineers and technicians for on-site troubleshooting and repairs, facilitating timely resolution and ensuring proper monitoring of the functioning of the systems as per the sequence of operation.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams for patch and security updates or to troubleshoot network-related issues, ensuring system integrity and security.
- Respond promptly to alerts and alarms in accordance with facility standard operating procedures (SOP) and emergency response plans to ensure swift action and resolution.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation of NOC/BMS operations, including system performance data, system reports, and records to ensure comprehensive record-keeping.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities within the company assigned tools and registers.
- Ensure sustainability trackers are updated as per the requested frequency, reflecting the data center’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Monitor weather alerts consistently and trigger updates to the respective teams and Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems as needed.
- Update shift handover forms accurately and promptly within the company’s assigned system to ensure complete information handover and smooth transitions between shifts.
- Prepare and review detailed reports on system performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Assist the Site Operations Manager with NOC/BMS operation audits, providing accurate responses to questions and requests for data, records, logs, and trends related to data center operations and environmental controls.
- Act as the first responder to alarms, alerts, warnings, errors, and incidents, taking the lead in notifying and escalating these events according to the agreed SOP for NOC operations.
