Position Summary

Halian is seeking an experienced, highly technical, and accomplished Agent Runtime Platform Engineer with 6+ years of professional engineering experience to join our client team on a full-time, onsite basis in Abu Dhabi, UAE, supporting a large-scale AI and digital transformation program for a leading banking client. In this specialized platform engineering and cloud-native runtime role, you will spearhead architecting containerized platform environments on AKS, managing infrastructure as code via Terraform, and building secure runtime architectures for AI agent ecosystems and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

You will work closely with cross-functional AI engineers, security architects, and banking stakeholders to deliver production-ready, highly resilient platforms. Ideal candidates bring a robust academic background in computer science or engineering, deep practical mastery of Kubernetes, Terraform, and event-driven runtime design, and immediate availability.

As an Agent Runtime Platform Engineer at Halian in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you will take full ownership of designing, building, securing, and scaling cloud-native runtime platforms for next-generation Agentic AI and enterprise agent architectures. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass deploying and managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, containerized platforms, and automated infrastructure using Terraform and Git Hub Actions. You will configure API gateways, advanced networking, workload identity, secrets management, secure integrations, and event-driven systems to support AI agent frameworks and MCP servers.

• Architect, deploy, and manage production-grade containerized platforms utilizing AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) and Azure Container Apps.
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) and platform automation workflows utilizing Terraform and Git Hub Actions.
• Configure and secure API gateways, enterprise networking, workload identity federation, secrets management, and secure service integrations.
• Design and operate cloud-native runtime environments for AI agent architectures, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and event-driven systems.
• Ensure uncompromising scalability, observability, resilience, cybersecurity, cost optimization, and production-ready platform engineering.
• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, data scientists, software developers, and banking security squads in Abu Dhabi.
• Troubleshoot complex distributed system failures, cluster performance bottlenecks, and network routing issues.
• Ensure strict adherence to banking regulatory compliance, financial data security standards, and enterprise architecture baselines.
• Maintain comprehensive technical architecture diagrams, platform runbooks, and infrastructure automation scripts.
• Participate in architecture review boards and drive continuous improvement across cloud-native platform ecosystems.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 6+ years of professional software engineering and Dev Ops/Cloud platform engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps, and containerized platforms.
• Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tooling, particularly Terraform, and platform automation via Git Hub Actions.
• Deep working knowledge of API gateways, cloud networking, workload identity management, and secrets management.
• Proven practical experience supporting event-driven systems, distributed architectures, and modern cloud-native runtime design.
• Familiarity with AI agent architectures, LLM orchestration frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integration.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, architectural design, and cross-functional communication capabilities.
• Professional availability for onsite employment in Abu Dhabi, UAE (Immediate to 30 days notice period preferred).
