It is home to a diverse community of leading scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and researchers from across the globe, transforming problems and roadblocks into pioneering research and technology prototypes that help move society ahead.
We're looking for a talented HPC Engineer to join our growing team and support the computational infrastructure powering advanced research. As an engineer in our team, you'll deploy, maintain, and optimize CPU and GPU clusters, working closely with infrastructure engineers and researchers to provide reliable, efficient computing environments for scientific and AI workloads.
Responsibilities- Deploy, configure, and maintain HPC infrastructure, including compute nodes, GPU servers, cluster management systems, and shared storage.
- Perform Linux system administration, including provisioning, configuration, software installation, patching, and upgrades.
- Configure and maintain workload scheduling and orchestration platforms such as Slurm or Kubernetes.
- Support researchers in configuring software environments, submitting workloads, and troubleshooting execution issues.
- Diagnose hardware, operating system, networking, storage, and workload performance problems.
- Maintain GPU drivers, compute runtimes, communication libraries, and container environments.
- Automate routine administration and deployment tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
- Monitor cluster health, resource utilization, and capacity, and assist with performance tuning.
- Support infrastructure expansion, maintenance activities, and validation of new hardware.
- Maintain operational documentation, configuration records, and procedures, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Practical experience administering HPC clusters, GPU infrastructure, or large-scale Linux environments.
- Strong Linux administration skills, including package management, system, permissions, processes, file systems, and networking.
- Proficiency in Bash or Python for scripting and operational automation.
- Hands-on experience with a workload scheduler or orchestration platform such as Slurm or Kubernetes.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible and version control using Git.
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Apptainer/Singularity, or containerd.
- Understanding of GPU computing environments, including driver installation, CUDA runtimes, and basic GPU diagnostics.
- Familiarity with shared or parallel storage systems such as NFS, Lustre, or BeeGFS.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and high-performance interconnects such as Infini Band or RDMA-capable Ethernet.
- Ability to investigate operational issues independently, follow established procedures, and recognize when escalation is needed.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and researchers.
- Experience with MPI, NCCL, distributed training, or scientific computing applications is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based HPC infrastructure or infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Typically 1–3 years of relevant experience in HPC, Linux systems administration, or infrastructure engineering.
