ROLE SUMMARY

The Technical Manager is responsible for the end-to-end placement of insurance risks in the direct market across Property & Casualty (P&C) and specialty lines. Reporting to the Technical Director, the role supports Client Partners on technical queries and client meetings and maintains strong insurer relationships. A working knowledge of reinsurance markets is a distinct advantage.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage end-to-end placement of P&C and specialty risks in the direct insurance market.
  • Prepare and present risk submissions (new & renewal business) negotiate terms, pricing, and conditions with insurers.
  • Monitor insurer appetite and market trends formulate placement strategy and client advice.
  • Maintain strong relationships with direct market insurers, underwriters, and market contacts.
  • Apply working knowledge of reinsurance markets where facultative or reinsurance-backed capacity is required.
Client Partner - Technical Support
  • Assist the Client Partner in technical queries, client meetings, and programme structuring.
  • Prepare coverage summaries, technical briefings, and insurer comparison reports.
  • Collaborate on renewal strategies, coverage reviews, and mid-term adjustments in discussion with Client Partner
Documentation, Compliance & Leadership
  • Verify placement documentation including cover notes, policy schedules, and endorsements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements; maintain complete placement files.
  • Mentor junior broking staff and contribute to best practice development within the team.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • ACII (Associate, Chartered Insurance Institute) | FIII (Fellow, Insurance Institute of India) | DipCII — or equivalent.
Experience
  • Minimum 5–10 years in insurance broking with direct market placement experience.
  • Proven track record across P&C lines; working knowledge of reinsurance markets is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting Client Partners in a technical broking capacity.
Property Lines – Technical Knowledge
  • Commercial Property, IAR, Business Interruption, Machinery Breakdown, and Engineering risks.
  • EML/PML assessment, Nat Cat exposure, multi-location schedules, and construction/engineering risks.
  • Familiarity with policy conditions, warranties, sub-limits, co-insurance, and valuation principles.
Casualty Lines – Technical Knowledge
  • GL, Public & Products Liability, EL, PI, D&O, E&O, Financial Lines, Cyber Liability, and Motor Liability.
  • Jurisdiction awareness across UK, US, and international liability environments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills across P&C lines.
  • Detail-oriented; proficient in broking platforms and MS Office Suite.
