We are seeking an analytical and commercially minded Actuarial Consultant | Insurance Risk Analyst to provide actuarial analysis, insurance risk assessment, financial modeling, and strategic insights across insurance products and portfolios. This role combines actuarial expertise with risk analytics to support pricing, reserving, capital management, portfolio performance, and informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct actuarial analyses to evaluate insurance risks, financial performance, and portfolio characteristics.
- Develop and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, forecasting, capital, and risk assessment.
- Analyze claims experience, loss ratios, premium trends, exposure data, and underwriting performance.
- Assess insurance risks across different products, customer segments, markets, and portfolios.
- Support the development and review of insurance pricing models and assumptions.
- Perform profitability analysis and identify key drivers of underwriting performance.
- Conduct claims and loss-development analysis using historical and projected data.
- Support the calculation and validation of technical provisions, reserves, and expected claims liabilities.
- Analyze frequency, severity, loss development, and other insurance risk indicators.
- Perform experience studies and assess the appropriateness of actuarial assumptions.
- Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and stress testing to evaluate potential financial impacts.
- Assess catastrophe, underwriting, mortality, morbidity, longevity, lapse, and other relevant insurance risks where applicable.
- Support capital modeling and solvency assessments.
- Analyze risk-adjusted returns and portfolio risk concentrations.
- Monitor emerging insurance risks and changes in claims or market trends.
- Prepare actuarial reports, risk assessments, management presentations, and analytical summaries.
- Translate complex actuarial results into clear business insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, risk management, product, and business‑development teams.
- Support product development by evaluating pricing assumptions, expected profitability, and risk characteristics.
- Review underwriting guidelines and identify opportunities to improve risk selection and portfolio performance.
- Monitor actual versus expected experience and investigate material variances.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor key actuarial and insurance‑risk indicators.
- Ensure actuarial models, assumptions, methodologies, and analytical processes are properly documented.
- Perform model validation, data checks, and reasonableness testing to ensure analytical accuracy.
- Identify data‑quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve inconsistencies.
- Support regulatory reporting, actuarial reviews, audits, and other governance requirements.
- Maintain awareness of changes in insurance regulations, actuarial standards, market conditions, and industry practices.
- Conduct financial impact assessments for changes in products, assumptions, regulations, or risk‑management strategies.
- Recommend improvements to actuarial models, risk controls, data processes, and analytical methodologies.
- Participate in strategic projects involving insurance risk, portfolio optimization, capital, pricing, and business planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Proven experience in actuarial consulting, insurance risk analysis, pricing, reserving, valuation, or related areas.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, claims processes, and risk management.
