The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Pricing Actuary to lead insurance pricing strategy, actuarial modeling, rate adequacy analysis, portfolio segmentation, profitability analysis, pricing governance, and technical pricing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine advanced actuarial expertise with strong commercial judgment, statistical analysis, modeling capability, and stakeholder-management skills to develop accurate pricing models, evaluate rate adequacy, identify portfolio trends, and support profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with underwriting objectives, risk appetite, market conditions, and profitability targets.
  • Lead technical pricing activities across assigned insurance products, portfolios, markets, and customer segments.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial pricing models using appropriate statistical and actuarial methodologies.
  • Analyze historical claims, exposure, premium, expense, and policy data to identify pricing trends and risk characteristics.
  • Perform frequency, severity, loss-cost, claims-development, and profitability analyses.
  • Develop appropriate assumptions for claims frequency, severity, inflation, expenses, exposure growth, and other pricing variables.
  • Evaluate rate adequacy using historical experience, prospective assumptions, market information, and actuarial judgment.
  • Calculate indicated rate changes and assess the financial impact of proposed pricing actions.
  • Develop rate-level analyses and support implementation of approved pricing changes.
  • Segment portfolios by risk characteristics to improve pricing differentiation and risk selection.
  • Identify variables with meaningful predictive power for claims frequency, severity, or profitability.
  • Develop and evaluate risk-classification frameworks and rating structures.
  • Analyze geographic, industry, customer, product, coverage, distribution, and other relevant risk segments.
  • Assess the impact of policy limits, deductibles, coverage structures, exclusions, and other terms on expected losses and profitability.
  • Evaluate the interaction between pricing, underwriting appetite, claims experience, and portfolio performance.
  • Analyze portfolio loss ratios, combined ratios, retention, growth, rate movement, and other performance indicators.
  • Conduct price adequacy monitoring and identify areas requiring corrective pricing action.
  • Monitor actual-versus-expected claims experience and investigate significant deviations.
  • Conduct pricing diagnostics to identify changes in claims frequency, severity, mix, exposure, and other portfolio drivers.
  • Develop predictive models and statistical techniques to improve pricing segmentation and risk differentiation.
  • Apply generalized linear models, credibility methods, machine-learning techniques, or other appropriate methodologies where relevant.
  • Validate pricing models through back-testing, sensitivity analysis, stability testing, and performance monitoring.
  • Perform model governance, documentation, validation, and independent review activities.
  • Assess model limitations, assumptions, data constraints, and potential sources of bias or instability.
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate pricing outcomes under alternative assumptions.
  • Assess the impact of inflation, economic conditions, interest rates, claims trends, catastrophe exposure, regulatory changes, and other external factors.
  • Incorporate emerging claims trends and market developments into pricing assumptions.
  • Collaborate with Claims teams to understand changes in claims costs, settlement patterns, litigation trends, and loss development.
  • Work closely with Underwriting teams to ensure pricing models reflect underwriting strategy, risk appetite, and operational realities.
