What Will Your Day Look Like?

You’ll take end-to-end ownership of grain freight, from sourcing and fixing the right vessel and negotiating commercial terms, through loading, voyage and discharge operations, to final freight settlement — working closely with suppliers, vessels, ports, agents and other stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective and seamless delivery.

How Will You Make an Impact?
  • Hands-on experience in vessel sourcing, freight negotiation and Charter Party execution, from initial offer through final fixture and recap.
  • Proven ability to manage load-port, in-transit and discharge-port operations, including vessel nomination, hold inspections, NOR, cargo documentation, vessel tracking, ventilation and fumigation.
  • Strong experience in voyage financial closure, including Statements of Facts, laytime calculations, demurrage/despatch claims, Disbursement Accounts, bunker reconciliation and freight invoices.
  • Strong knowledge of GAFTA/FOSFA rules, chartering law, Charter Parties and complex laytime calculations, including bunker hedge and EWRP calculations.
  • Proven expertise in managing grain-specific operational risks, including hold rejections, heating, fumigation and silo bottlenecks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Veson IMOS, Sea/, Netpas and voyage estimation tools.
  • Strong understanding of physical freight, vessel chartering and post-fixture operations across the full voyage lifecycle.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a 24/7 global shipping environment and respond to live operational emergencies.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in dry bulk chartering and operations, with extensive exposure to agricultural grain logistics.
  • Strong experience managing the full vessel lifecycle, from vessel sourcing and fixture through loading, voyage, discharge and final settlement.
  • Maritime education and sailing experience will be a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
  • Vessel chartering, freight negotiation and Charter Party execution, including Synacomex, Norgrain and Centrocon.
  • Strong knowledge of GAFTA/FOSFA rules, chartering law and complex laytime, demurrage and despatch calculations.
  • Proficiency in Veson IMOS, Netpas, Sea/ and voyage estimation tools.
  • Vessel tracking and voyage performance monitoring, including speed, fuel consumption and arrival planning.
  • Grain cargo operations, including hold cleanliness, fumigation, ventilation and cargo quality management.
  • Strong understanding of Statements of Facts, Disbursement Accounts, bunker reconciliation and freight settlement.
