Technician - Tooling

The Technician – Gate 3 & 4 (Tooling) plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the tooling function within the Aviation and Aero Engine MRO environment. Reporting to the Manager or Supervisor of Gate 3 & 4 (Tooling), this hands‑on position involves the issuance, receipt, inspection, cleaning, storage, tracking, and control of tools and tooling equipment. The Technician ensures tools are available, correctly identified, properly stored, traceable, serviceable, and within calibration validity before use.

Operating primarily within approved procedures and under supervision, the role contributes to inventory management, calibration support, housekeeping, and the safe handling of tooling assets, while promptly reporting discrepancies or non‑compliant tooling. This position is essential to maintaining tooling readiness and operational efficiency at Gate 3 & 4.

• Tool Crib Operations and Tool Issuance: Support daily tool crib operations by issuing and receiving tools according to approved procedures, ensuring valid identification and calibration status, and maintaining accurate records in ERP or tool‑tracking systems.
• Basic Tool Inspection and Condition Monitoring: Perform visual checks for damage or defects, segregate unserviceable tools, assist with cleaning and minor maintenance, and ensure tools requiring technical assessment are properly reviewed before use.
• Calibration Support: Verify calibration labels and due dates, assist with preparing tools for calibration, handle returned calibrated tools, and maintain calibration holding and quarantine areas.
• Inventory Control, Storage and Traceability: Store tools orderly, participate in inventory counts, support reconciliation, apply identification labels, and maintain accurate tool movement records.
• Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and environment requirements, comply with technical instructions and quality controls, report unsafe conditions or discrepancies, and support audits and reporting requirements.
• Housekeeping and Work Area Control: Maintain clean, safe, and organized tool cribs and work areas, support 5S and LEAN activities, and ensure proper disposal and identification of storage zones.
• Reporting, Communication and Team Support: Provide accurate updates on tooling status, communicate professionally with teams, participate in meetings, and elevate urgent issues impacting operations.
• Learning and Development: Develop tooling knowledge, complete training, work within competency levels, seek guidance when needed, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

We seek candidates with vocational or technical certification in mechanical, aeronautical, aviation maintenance, industrial maintenance, instrumentation, machining, tooling, or related fields. Prior experience ranging from fresh graduates to individuals with up to 3 years in tooling, aviation MRO, workshops, calibration support, warehouse operations, or inventory control is desirable. Familiarity with ERP, inventory, barcode, or tool‑tracking systems is advantageous. Essential competencies include a basic understanding of tool crib operations, inspection and calibration awareness, inventory tracking, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, effective communication skills, teamwork, problem recognition with timely escalation, and a willingness to learn and develop within the aviation MRO environment. Certifications such as material‑handling or forklift operation are considered a plus.
