Commercial Manager
Overview
This consultant-side role is responsible for managing contract administration, change control, cost forecasting, and commercial risk mitigation across the assigned package. The Commercial Manager will work closely with the client, contractors, and internal teams to ensure commercial transparency, compliance with the Contract, and alignment with programme objectives.
Your roleContract Administration
- Administer and manage the main contract and subcontracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with the Contract's terms and conditions, including FIDIC-based provisions.
- Review contractor submissions, claims, and payment applications for accuracy and contractual alignment.
- Lead the evaluation and negotiation of variations, claims, and change orders.
- Support the preparation and substantiation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims in coordination with Planning and Project Controls teams.
- Maintain a robust change management log and ensure timely resolution of commercial issues.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures across the assigned package.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for internal and client reporting.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options.
- Support procurement strategies and subcontractor engagement processes.
- Ensure commercial terms are aligned with project delivery requirements and risk profiles.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with commercial obligations.
- Identify and manage commercial risks, including exposure to delays, scope changes, and disputes.
- Track KPIs related to cost, contract compliance, and financial performance.
- Provide input to monthly progress reports and executive dashboards.
- Act as the commercial point of contact for the assigned package, liaising with the client, contractors, and internal teams.
- Support coordination with technical, planning, and construction teams to ensure commercial alignment with delivery strategies.
- Participate in commercial meetings, reviews, and audits.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in commercial management of large-scale infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in rail or transport.
- Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts and preferably UAE construction law.
- Proficiency in cost management tools and reporting systems.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
