Mechanical Helper

Job Profile :

The Mechanical Helper is responsible for assisting skilled technicians in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural steel components made of stainless steel (SS) and carbon steel (CS). The role includes tasks such as material handling, measuring, basic painting, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure the smooth execution of projects in both workshop and site settings.

Responsibilities :

• Assist with fabrication by measuring, cutting, and grinding steel materials, and support welders in assembling components.
• Perform basic painting and coating tasks on fabricated parts and assist with touch-ups during site installations.
• Support on-site installation by helping with the alignment, fitting, and bolting of piping and structural steel.
• Handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment safely between the workshop and job sites.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning tools and performing basic equipment inspections.
• Prepare surfaces and components for welding or painting by cleaning and removing rust or debris.
• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and participating in safety meetings.
• Assist with general project duties such as pressure testing and setting up scaffolding for elevated work.

Skills

Qualifications & Experience :

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with painting and measurement in an industrial setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometres, and levels.
• Basic understanding of painting techniques and material preparation.
• Knowledge of tools like grinders, drills, and manual handling equipment.
• Must be detail-oriented, able to follow instructions precisely, and work effectively in a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces, at heights, or in varied outdoor conditions.
