Position:
Senior Roll, Stand & Guide Fitter
The role involves leading Roll Shop shift teams, planning daily activities, conducting toolbox talks, and ensuring smooth handovers for uninterrupted operations. Responsibilities include maintaining housekeeping standards, reporting tool damage, ensuring safe lifting tackle, managing roll stand builds as per HSM program, conducting final checks, overseeing guide inspection/repair, and ordering spares. Includes water spray system checks before rolling, maintaining high safety standards, submitting roll build reports, and safely operating Roll Shop equipment including cranes, cobble removal, and guide adjustments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSEQ):
- Proactive and responsible approach to HSEQ
- Adhere to all HSEQ precautions in work areas
- Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards
- Respond effectively to emergency conditions
- Liaise with Shift Supervisor & Senior Roller during handover
- Assist in roll change procedures
- Plan roll and guide build requirements
- Ensure quality build for each section
- Manage roll build operations in line with production and engineering requirements
- Maintain high health & safety standards
- Report unsafe acts/conditions via Near Miss system
- Attend safety, production, and engineering meetings
- Monitor product quality and report defects
- Monitor and report roll build issues
- Provide accurate and timely reports to Engineering teams
- Contribute to improvement of policies and procedures
- Proactively manage people and processes
- Participate in personal development and training
- Mechanical maintenance of equipment
- Expertise in roll build procedures and final checks
- Ability to manage procurement of guides and equipment
- Strong technical knowledge of section mill, roll build, and engineering requirements
- High attention to detail for product quality
- Strong planning and coordination skills
- Active participation in shop floor activities
- Strong commitment to safety standards
- Flexible for 24/7 shift work
- Ability to operate jib and overhead cranes safely
- Industrial Bachelor Degree
- Hazard and Safety Awareness
- Basic Roll Design and Scheduling
- Report Writing
- Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy/medium/light section mill roll shop
