Overview
This position supervises day‑to‑day operations in the fabrication workshop to ensure optimal workflow, resource allocation, and compliance with quality and safety standards within the oil and gas sector.
Responsibilities- Supervise day-to-day operations in the fabrication workshop, ensuring optimal workflow and resource allocation.
- Interpret engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints.
- Plan, schedule, and allocate jobs to workshop personnel in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure that all fabrication works—including cutting, welding, bending, and assembling—meet quality standards and specifications.
- Enforce strict compliance with HSE, Health, Safety, and Environment standards and ensure safe‑work practices are followed.
- Conduct routine inspections of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure operational readiness and initiate maintenance as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and training to workshop personnel.
- Monitor stock levels of fabrication materials (e.g., steel plates, pipes, welding rods) and coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment.
- Maintain detailed records of work progress, labor, material usage, and job completion.
- Liaise with project engineers, QA/QC inspectors, and clients as required.
- Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in fabrication work, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within the oil and gas sector.
- Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW), metal fabrication, and pipeline systems.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, and other relevant industry codes and standards.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Working knowledge of HSE regulations and safe‑work practices in oil and gas environments.
- Relevant experience in pipeline, EPC, oil & gas, flowline, brownfield, upstream facilities, or wellhead projects.
- Preference for candidates with prior Gulf experience, especially those who have worked on ADNOC projects.
