Operating Melting Furnaces

• Operating melting furnaces: setting up, monitoring, and controlling furnace operations.
• Loading materials: placing raw materials such as scrap metal, ingots, or alloys into the furnace while accurately measuring and weighing them to achieve the desired metal composition.
• Monitoring temperature and conditions: constantly monitoring and regulating temperature, pressure, and other furnace parameters to ensure that the metal or alloy melts to the required state and maintains the desired properties.
• Alloy mixing: adding specific alloys or additives to the molten metal when necessary to achieve the required quality, composition, or characteristics.
• Skimming and cleaning: removing impurities, slag, and other unwanted materials from the surface of the molten metal to improve final product quality.
• Safety and environmental compliance: following safety protocols, wearing protective gear, handling hazardous materials, and properly disposing of waste.
• Troubleshooting: identifying and addressing issues or malfunctions in the melting process, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
• Record keeping: maintaining accurate records of the melting process, including temperature readings, materials used, and any incidents or irregularities.
• Quality control: ensuring that the melted metal meets specified quality and composition requirements through inspections and tests.
• Team collaboration: cooperating with foundry workers, technicians, and quality control personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient melting process.
• Preventative maintenance: performing routine maintenance on melting equipment and reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the maintenance department.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a melting operator in a metal manufacturing or foundry environment.
• Preference for candidates with prior experience in the foundry.
