Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team at our new mechanical manufacturing facility in the KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi. This role focuses on the high‑precision repair and maintenance of turbo machinery rotating equipment, including steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and pumps. As a senior technical member of the workshop, you will perform complex layouts, setups, and both manual and CNC machining tasks.
You should be able to operate with minimal supervision, oversee production quality, and mentor other employees.
The CNC Machinist is responsible for the end‑to‑end manufacturing and assembly process, ensuring every component meets rigorous engineering specifications.
- Perform layout, complex setups, manual machining, and CNC machining on both ferrous and non‑ferrous materials.
- Operate vertical and horizontal lathes, milling machines, turrets, and grinders.
- Execute CNC milling and lathe operations, including zero references, tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
- Install and adjust three‑ and four‑jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; perform indicating vices and tramming heads.
- Manage tooling: use inserts, fixtures, and tooling; sharpen and replace worn tools as required.
- Carry out drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
- Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and requirements; interpret GD&T.
- Conduct dimensional inspections and verify settings; compare first‑run and sample work pieces against standards.
- Perform sub‑assembly, tool setting, deburring, and final assembly according to specifications.
- Prove part programs and calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Plan and supervise work with minimal supervision, directing and training other employees.
- Maintain equipment: complete preventive maintenance, follow manufacturer instructions, and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Evaluate and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and production adaptability.
- Document actions, irregularities, and quality logs to maintain continuity between shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a mechanical manufacturing or repair environment.
- Proven experience in G‑Code programming and execution.
- Extensive manual machining experience (highly desired).
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, reference planes, and surface locations.
- Proficiency in basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Physical ability to lift stock into position and manage feed mechanisms.
- Personal inventory of basic tooling for routine setups.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional conduct.
- Leadership: ability to take ownership of new requests and explore opportunities for improvement.
This is a full‑time, on‑site permanent position based out of our Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
