Job Description:
Job SummaryThe Pulpit Operator is responsible for controlling and monitoring steel production processes from the central control room (pulpit). This role ensures smooth and efficient operation of equipment such as rolling mills, continuous casting machines, or furnaces while maintaining safety and quality standards. The operator adjusts process parameters, monitors production data, and coordinates with on-ground personnel to optimize plant performance.
Job Responsibilities 1Operate and control rolling mills, furnaces, or casting machines from the pulpit using HMI/SCADA systems.
Communicate with on-ground operators, maintenance teams, and quality inspectors to ensure seamless production flow.
Adjust speed, temperature, pressure, and other process parameters to maintain production efficiency and product quality.
Monitor alarms and emergency signals, take corrective actions, and initiate emergency shutdowns when required.
Ensure product specifications are met by continuously monitoring process data and identifying defects.
Maintain accurate records of process parameters, production output, downtime, and incidents.
Diagnose minor equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance for quick resolution.
Monitor power consumption and optimize operational settings to reduce energy costs.
Provide detailed shift reports and communicate key operational details to the next shift
Participate in process improvement initiatives and suggest optimizations for better efficiency

Job Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of rolling, melting, casting, or finishing operations in a steel plant
Experience in controlling industrial processes using Human-Machine Interface (HMI) or SCADA systems.
Ability to fine-tune operational parameters to improve productivity and quality.
Knowledge of industrial safety protocols, emergency shutdown procedures, and hazard mitigation.
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job ExperienceMinimum 1 year working experience/relevant experience, GCC experience is a plus
