The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support and promote the mission, vision and values of SSMC; provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.
Job Purpose

- Assessment and Diagnosis:
Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues. Assess comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis or issues. - Planning and Outcomes Identification:
Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan addressing health promotion, restoration and maintenance. Involves patient, family and healthcare team in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care. Applies evidence-based nursing practices and modifies the plan as needed. Documents outcomes as measurable goals using standardized language. - Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery:
Implements the plan of care in partnership with patient, family and healthcare team using evidence-based interventions. Performs treatments and procedures per guidelines; administers medications per policies. Documents all components of the plan in the health record and communicates across care levels. Demonstrates knowledge of resource use within a cost-effective framework. - Health teaching and health promotion:
Uses appropriate teaching strategies for the patient and learning needs. Supports healthy lifestyles and self-management; documents health education in the patient record. - Evaluation:
Evaluates progress toward outcomes and patient/family understanding. Revises diagnoses, outcomes, and plan of care as needed. Provides comprehensive clinical handover and keeps the attending provider updated on changes. Notifies the care team of ongoing plan changes and unit activity. - Evidence-based Practice and Research:
Integrates evidence and research findings into practice. Participates in evidence-based activities and performance improvement projects; shares findings with the team. - Leadership:
Demonstrates leadership, coordinates and supervises delegated activities, and serves as a resource for the team. Maintains a safe, organized work environment and mentors other staff. Participates in shared decision-making to improve practice and outcomes. Supervises practical nurses and junior staff. - Accountabilities:
Maintains professional ethics, patient advocacy, safety, and continuous learning. Responds to emergencies per policy and promotes environmental health and safety.
Experience
Required:
NLT 2 years clinical experience post qualification in appropriate setting. (
Note:
Experience requirement waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges/universities after completion of internship)

Educational Qualification
Required:
Bachelor degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum two years) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia; valid/current national license; BLS
Desired: ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty
