Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination of Care:
Accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. - Professional Nursing Practice:
Supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family, and ensures that the delivery of care aligns with the mission, vision, and values of SSMC. - Clinical Competency:
Demonstrates clinical competency in the triage process, including follow-up assessments. - Resuscitation Competence:
Demonstrates competence in resuscitation and is familiar with the roles during the resuscitation process for different patient groups, including prevention of complications. - Emergency Care Knowledge:
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge in emergency care to deliver high standards of clinical care to patients. - Assessment Competence:
Demonstrates knowledge and competence in assessing complex emergency patient care needs and situations. - Helicopter Patient Reception:
Demonstrates and maintains knowledge in receiving patients brought in by helicopter, including ensuring safety on the helipad. - Ventilated Patient Management:
Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the care and management of ventilated patients, including the prevention of complications.
