Registered Nurse – IP Ward Job Description
Provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about health conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Assess and identify patients’ needs; develop and monitor patient medical plans and treatments in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare specialists or allied health professionals in diverse settings. Perform systematic patient assessments, collect pertinent health data, and analyze information to determine nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
Define predicted and expected outcomes and develop patient care plans with the medical team. Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities. Maintain and update clinical skills related to nursing practice. Employ strategies to promote patient health and a safe environment. Understand diagnostic tests and laboratory exams. Perform essential life support (BLS). Prepare patients for medical examinations and treatments. Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and monitor for side effects or reactions.
Provide wound care management and assist with invasive or non-invasive medical procedures. Facilitate safe admissions and discharges.

- Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Maintain and update technical and clinical nursing skills.
- Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and safe environment.

- Facilitate the process of safe patient admission and discharge.
- Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all required qualifications and experience.
- Manage own professional revalidation.
- Hold a basic life support qualification (within the past 24 months).
- Maintain an active interest in the clinical field in which one is employed.
- Willingness to work across departments when necessary.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
