Job Purpose
The Practical Nurse provides appropriate patient care according to established care plans under the supervision of Registered Nurses, following the Nursing Scope of Practice. The Practical Nurse adheres to and promotes the professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi, remains responsible and accountable for their own actions, and supports the mission, vision and values of the organization.
Job DescriptionThe Practical Nurse works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, implements nursing care for patients and maintains a patient‑centered approach to care. The role includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, communicating documentation accurately, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and participating in administrative duties as required.
Responsibilities- Assesses and implements nursing care for patients under RN supervision, ensuring a patient‑centered approach.
- Assists with daily living activities for patients in accordance with the care plan, including meal distribution and hygiene assistance.
- Reports significant changes in a patient’s condition to a registered nurse immediately.
- Responds to all emergency levels following organizational policies and procedures.
- Communicates timely, accurately, and completes documentation with patients, including verbal and written correspondence.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to manage effective and efficient patient‑centered care professionally.
- Documents and participates in the use of information technology and electronic medical records.
- Assists registered nurses and clerical staff with administrative duties as required.
- Provides patients and families with comprehensive information and resources to meet their health care needs.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and family information while promoting interdisciplinary communication.
- Provides feedback on strategies to decrease costs and effective utilization of resources.
- Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact.
- Interacts with clinic patients during appointment times, including greeting, rooming, vital signs, preparing for exams or procedures, and providing follow‑up directions.
- Ensures exam rooms, stations, and clinic areas are stocked with adequate supplies to promote efficient patient care.
- Completes all other tasks and duties as assigned by the line manager.
- Apply relationship‑building values and team dynamics principles to perform effectively in different team roles and deliver patient‑centered care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
- Ensures the registered nurse is informed of observations and care provided for patients and documents appropriately.
- Gathers records of patients regarding current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews the medical record.
- Manages all timely communication and documentation related to individual patient care as delegated by the nurse in charge.
- Maintains a safe and secure unit environment, identifies, reports, and documents any risks and/or incidents appropriately.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in a similar health setting.

Educational Qualification – Required:
- Diploma of Nursing not less than eighteen (18) months course duration.
- Current National License.
- BLS certification.
Desired Educational Qualification: ACLS, PALS relevant to the area of specialty.
