Podiatrist provide preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the feet, ankles and lower legs. This can include infections, defects and injuries, as well as foot and nail conditions related to other major health disorder such as diabetes.

- Specialized dressing
- Exercise therapies
- Assess, diagnose and treat abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages
- Provide treatment of high-risk patient group such as the elderly and those with increased risk of amputation
- Give advice and make referrals as appropriate
- Use therapeutic and surgical techniques to treat foot and lower leg issues (eg: carrying out nail and soft tissue surgery using local anesthetic)
- Prescribe, produce and fit orthotics and other aids and appliances
- Understand the mechanics of body in order to preserve, restore and develop movement
- Work with people in sports to address sports-related injuries to legs and feet
- Use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, dressing, treatment tables, orthotic (inner sole) materials, lasers, grinders, shaping equipment, X Ray and video gait-analysis equipment (which allows for analysis of patients walking or running problems)
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with Hospital Management to comply those requirements
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses and issues and assistance with preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
- Comply with waste management procedures and policies
- Attend applicable OSH / Infection Control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
- Valid DOH/DHA or Equivalent Tier 1 Health license as Podiatrist
- Bachelor’s degree in Podiatry from an accredited college (minimum of three 3 years course duration)
- MSc degree in Podiatry or Doctor of Podiatry
- Min 3 years of experience post qualification
- Podiatrists must earn a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DOM) degree and complete a 3 - year residency program.
