JOB DESCRIPTION

The Magnet Recognition Program Manager plays a pivotal role in guiding and managing the organization’s efforts toward achieving and maintaining Magnet status through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This position involves leading the Magnet recognition process, including documentation, data collection, and collaboration with nursing and leadership teams. The Magnet Recognition Program Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Magnet standards, preparing for site visits, and facilitating ongoing improvements to nursing practice and patient care that align with Magnet principles.

• Role models Magnet leadership style and behaviors at all times, promoting effective leadership.
• Promotes the philosophies and goals of the nursing division and the organization.
• Establishes and maintains Magnet Champion involvement and leadership of the Magnet concept implementation at SKMC.
• Provides leadership and guidance to support the organization’s shared governance culture, behaviors and activities, in order to further empower nurses in their provision of nursing care.
• Supports Shared Governance Council leadership in their activities and development, providing guidance as appropriate and if necessary.
• Participates on relevant committees as required.

• Lead the organization’s efforts in achieving and maintaining ANCC Magnet Recognition status.
• Serve as the primary contact for all Magnet-related activities, including planning, implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Guide the development and submission of Magnet documentation (e.g., application, self-assessment, and annual reports).
• Ensure that the organization's nursing practices align with the Magnet framework, which includes transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, innovation, and improvements, and empirical outcomes.
• Integrates the 14 Forces of Magnetism (or alternative current model) into the facility structure, culture and committees.
• Directs or assists with the formulation of Magnet program goals and objectives, and strategic direction.
• Ensures organizational / nursing policies support and concur with Magnet culture demonstration.
• Advises nursing leadership and executive management if any deficits or causes for concern.
• Develops and maintains own Magnet awareness expertise, ensuring remaining current regarding requirements and any changes to these.
• Plans for and ensures preparedness of organization for Magnet appraisal site visit, following Magnet document submission

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing leadership, quality improvement, and human resources, to develop strategies and initiatives that align with Magnet standards.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support and advocate for Magnet initiatives.
• Serve as an educator and resource for nursing staff on the Magnet program, its significance, and the role each team member plays in meeting the Magnet standards.
• Plans education / communication activities for the preparatory phases leading up to Magnet appraisal site visit in order to ensure staff awareness and participation.
• Plans and delivers informational / education sessions as necessary to enhance Magnet understanding and behaviors.
• Supervises and supports Magnet educational activities undertaken by various groups or individuals within the organization.
