Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high‐risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

A Registered Nurse in the Antenatal Department plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care and support to pregnant women throughout their prenatal journey. Working collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, the Antenatal Nurse is responsible for assessing maternal and fetal well‐being, educating expectant mothers, coordinating care plans, and promoting healthy pregnancy outcomes. The nurse ensures safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while providing emotional support and guidance to women and their families during pregnancy.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive antenatal assessments, including maternal health history, physical assessments, and risk screening.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being through vital signs assessment, fetal heart rate monitoring, and routine antenatal investigations.
  • Assist physicians during antenatal examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Educate pregnant women and their families on pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, medications, fetal development, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Provide counseling and emotional support to expectant mothers and their families throughout the pregnancy journey.
  • Identify and promptly report signs of high-risk pregnancies, complications, or changes in maternal and fetal condition.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate and schedule antenatal appointments, follow-up visits, diagnostic tests, and referrals to other healthcare services.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient education, and clinical outcomes in the medical record.
  • Assist in managing patients with pregnancy-related conditions such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, preeclampsia, and multiple pregnancies.
  • Provide education regarding labor, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning with obstetricians, midwives, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond effectively to obstetric emergencies and facilitate timely escalation of care when required.
  • Promote patient safety, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based nursing practices within the antenatal clinic.
  • Support health promotion programs and community outreach initiatives related to maternal and fetal health.
  • Ensure patient privacy, confidentiality, and respect for cultural and individual preferences during care delivery.
  • Participate in continuing professional development, staff education, and competency-based training programs
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • DOH/DHA/MOH RN license
