Position: Veterinary Nurse – Canine Care (Private Hospitality)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive daily care and veterinary support for dogs, ensuring their health, safety, and overall wellbeing.
  • Perform regular health checks and monitor changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility and physical condition.
  • Administer medications, supplements, treatments and follow veterinary care instructions accurately.
  • Maintain detailed medical records, vaccination history, treatment plans and health reports.
  • Coordinate veterinary appointments and communicate effectively with veterinary specialists.
  • Manage feeding routines, dietary requirements, hydration, exercise schedules and enrichment activities.
  • Support basic dog training, obedience routines and positive behavioural development.
  • Identify early signs of illness, injury, stress or behavioural concerns and take appropriate action.
  • Assist with grooming routines, hygiene and maintaining the dogs overall presentation.
  • Ensure the dogs living areas are clean, safe, comfortable and maintained to a high standard.
  • Provide emergency support when required and respond calmly to unexpected health situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working within a private residence environment.
Qualifications
  • Recognised Veterinary Nurse qualification/certification from an accredited veterinary institution.
  • Proven professional experience as a Veterinary Nurse, Canine Care Specialist, or similar animal healthcare role.
  • Strong knowledge of canine anatomy, health conditions, nutrition, medication administration and preventative care.
  • Demonstrated experience handling and caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes and temperaments.
  • Ability to work independently and take full responsibility for canine care routines.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent record‑keeping and organisational skills.
  • Ability to recognise changes in dog behaviour and health conditions.
  • Genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing exceptional care.
