Welding Inspector
We are looking for a skilled Welding Inspector to oversee and verify all welding and piping fabrication activities, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, industry codes, and established quality standards. This position plays a key role in conducting inspections, maintaining documentation, coordinating with fabrication teams, and ensuring that all welds meet the required safety, quality, and integrity criteria.
What You’ll Be Accountable For- Performs Inspections and tests of products as applicable to certifications (receipt inspection, dimensional inspections, material verifications, cleanliness inspections, coatings, final inspections, bend inspections, Hydrostatic testing, etc.)
- Adequately evaluate and interpret inspection results and perform applicable documentation for inspection results.
- Monitoring, measuring and analyzing work control processes through in process inspections
inspections, and adequately identifies issues adverse to quality in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Provides guidance and training to lower level QC inspectors and trainees.
- Effectively communicates with production personnel and quality management issues and concerns encountered during inspections performed.
- Provide guidance and resolution to issues in accordance with procedures or codes as applicable.
- Ensures that documentation of fabrication performed and applicable documentation to the product are acceptable, complete and accurate for work performed.
- Ensure adequacy of Quality Records through review and verification of implementation, including correction of documents when identified incorrect.
- Maintain Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) to ensure that use is logged and equipment is protected from misuse or damage.
- Ensure that timeliness of inspections is achieved through communication with QC Supervisor and production supervision.
- Co-ordination with client, review of joints entry, heat numbers, consumable details, Review of test pack etc.
- Visual Inspection of Pre-fabricated Piping spools, etc. as per drawings generated from IFC Isometrics and approved working procedures and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Calibration of welding equipment's , RT selection, Material verification
- Review of joints entry, Witnessing hydrostatic tests, preparation of concerned documents
- Responsible for monitoring and recording Coating activities as required by the Specification, Inspection & Test plan, and witnessing each stage till final inspection.
- Monitoring and Inspection of painting related activities. (Checking the weather conditions, Cleanliness' of Pipes, Storage of Paints, etc.)
- Inspection of material Surface before/after blasting, checking surface profile
- Witnessing WFT measurements during coating application.
- Visual Inspection of coating surface and WFT/DFT measurement as per approved coating procedure/lTP.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI / equivalent).
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in piping fabrication or oil & gas projects.
- Strong knowledge of ASME IX, ASME B31.3, API standards, and welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW).
- Familiarity with NDT methods and interpretation of results.
- Good communication, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
