Responsibilities
- Thoroughly carry out assigned duties, successfully maintain records of laboratory processes and equipment, and generate reports to submit to the relevant supervisor.
- Receive, label, and test samples using the correct testing equipment.
- Record all test results accurately and in the specified reporting format.
- Ensure that safety guidelines are always adhered to within the laboratory.
- Maintain the daily logs and equipment record books; organise, store, and preserve all tested samples.
- Clean, maintain, and ensure calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Order laboratory supplies as needed.
- Perform tasks with honesty, integrity, and customer focus; fully embrace the Quality and HSE management systems.
- Participate in all HSE programs, particularly STOP Intervention, HSE Observations, Accident/Incident Reporting, and HSE Auditing.
- Practice good housekeeping.
- Ensure good communication between the shop floor and office on any issues that would impact efficiency and quality.
- Monitor own work to ensure quality is to the required standard.
- Cooperate with other departments to ensure workflow is maintained when required.
- Ensure only working with controlled copy documents; obsolete revisions are handed back to the Quality Manager for disposal.
- Ensure the correct tool is used for the job and that pre-checks are completed each time for damage, calibration, etc.
- Support continual improvement programmes; recommend and introduce process improvements, cost savings, and provide technical input to achieve optimal results.
- Keep work areas clean and hazards are always minimized.
- Attend and participate in all training provided by the Company and commit to all Management System changes approved by the Management Team.
- Immediately stop the job where any defect, process failure, machine malfunction, etc. is seen and report to the Line Supervisor.
- More than 7 years of experience, at least 4 years as a mechanical laboratory technician with a Mechanical Diploma.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited mechanical testing laboratory.
- Working experience with relevant industry codes and specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of preventive measures and laboratory best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
- Keen attention to detail and analytical skills.
