Mech Test House Technician

Responsibilities

• Testing as per Specification of Products.
• Perform and record tests on production samples from each cast to ensure compliance with the related specification.
• Test products to ensure they are safe to use and meet performance specifications.
• Work with test materials to assess the equipment used to perform the tests.
• Supervise technicians, chemists, and assistants involved in physical and chemical testing activities.
• Perform all mechanical test functions as specified in the Emirates Steel Nuclear QS Program to ensure compliance with applicable standards, ASME Code, and customer requirements.
• Monitor and inform about any surface abnormalities, yield and tensile values on the samples to the mill and QC inspector for follow‑up and corrective action.
• Perform failure analyses to determine the cause of the problem and preventive measures.
• Ensure all testing procedures are carried out in accordance with required standards.
• Prepare, verify, and issue reports.
• Store mechanical test results in SAP to enable printing of test certificates.
• Adhere to quality systems such as IMS ISO
  17025 and company testing standards, procedures, and work instructions.
• Carry out non‑routine tests for samples from mills QC to enable inspector decision on held bundles.
• Preserve samples for inspection, including samples in case of any lap opening in bend test, bad steel, and similar problems for inspection by the department manager.
• Maintain routine maintenance on testing and measuring equipment.
• Record and report problems, breakdowns, damages, spares, and consumables required to a superior to ensure smooth testing activities.
• Maintain and comply with company safety, health, and environmental aspects at the workplace to avoid injuries, damage to equipment, and environmental harm.
• Report deviations that affect quality to the QC Supervisor and Head of QC.

Minimum education qualifications (must‑haves):

• Diploma (Dip) in mechanical/metallurgy or a Graduate of Science.

• Computer skills.
• Knowledge of different instruments used in laboratories.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Knowledge of different specifications of rebar.
