Senior QC Inspector – Mechanical

The Senior QC Inspector is responsible for conducting quality inspections, surveillance activities, and witnessing inspection, testing, erection, and installation processes at construction sites, fabrication facilities and vendor locations in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications and applicable international standards.

Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Report directly to COMPANY Quality Teams and act as the focal point for assigned inspection activities.
  • Supervise and manage QC Inspectors and inspection personnel as directed by COMPANY Quality Representatives.
  • Review and implement QMS procedures, Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and Method Statements.
  • Conduct inspections and witness testing for activities performed by EPC Contractors and Manufacturers in accordance with approved ITPs and project requirements.
  • Review, verify, and endorse inspection and testing records for compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Monitor the performance of Contractor and Manufacturer QC personnel and report any quality concerns.
  • Attend and represent the client in QA/QC meetings with contractors at site and yard.
  • Perform material receiving inspections and verify compliance with project specifications and approved documentation.
  • Witness and inspect fabrication, manufacturing, testing and material verification activities based on equipment criticality and approved inspection requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of welding activities, including review of field weld procedures, welding qualification tests, fit‑up and welding activities, welding consumables, electrode storage and baking records.
  • Conduct inspections of painting/coating activities: coating material verification, surface preparation, application processes, calibration of testing equipment, field NDE procedures, NDT activities, and interpretation of RT films.
  • Inspect pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping fabrication, installation, and testing; oversee internals, pipelines and tanks, as well as rotating/reciprocating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines).
  • Participate in site completion walkdown and Punch‑list clearance.
  • Report discrepancies, deviations, and quality concerns to the Quality Team promptly.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions until closure.
  • Prepare and submit concise daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to inspection personnel to ensure consistent application of quality standards.
  • Review and verify quality records: MTCs, visual and dimensional inspection reports, NDT reports, performance test records, hydrostatic test records, inspection release notes, and other project documentation.
  • Ensure all inspections and tests, and related quality records required by project specifications, statutory regulations, and quality standards are completed and properly documented.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 2‑3 year technical diploma or engineering degree in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Welding or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant QA/QC inspection experience in Oil & Gas industry.
  • Discipline‑specific certifications (e.g., CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector, BGAS Grade III Coating Inspector, NACE Coating Inspector Level I or higher, ASNT Level II NDT Certification or ISO 9712, or other relevant mechanical certifications).
  • Experience in construction sites, fabrication yards, manufacturing facilities and vendor source inspections.
  • Previous ADNOC project experience is an added advantage.
  • Valid UAE driving licence preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, inspection procedures and QA/QC documentation requirements.
  • Good communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures and quality records.
  • Frequent travel to project sites, fabrication facilities and vendor locations within the UAE.
