Operations Safety Assurance & Certification Lead

The Operations Safety Assurance & Certification Lead is responsible for leading the development, integration, submission, acceptance and ongoing assurance of the Company Operations Safety Case, acting as the principal interface between Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Management and HSEQ.

The role is the Owner and Custodian of the Company Operations & Maintenance Hazard Log and is responsible for ensuring the effective identification, assessment, control, transfer and closure of operational and maintenance hazards throughout the railway lifecycle.

The position will establish and coordinate safety assurance activities in accordance with recognized railway safety and risk-management principles, including EN 50126 RAMS lifecycle requirements, EN 50128 and EN 50129 where applicable, and the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CSM-RA), or equivalent risk-management frameworks accepted by the relevant National Safety Authorities.

The position manages interfaces with the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), Engineering Independent Safety Assessor where applicable, National Safety Authorities, Safety Assurance Review Boards and Change Control Review Boards. It ensures that safety arguments, assurance evidence, hazard controls, safety requirements and certification submissions are complete, traceable and sufficient to support regulatory approvals for Testing & Commissioning, trial operations and Entry into Service.

Prior to commercial operations, the role will lead the safety assurance and certification activities defined within the Operational Readiness Plan. Following Entry into Service, the role will maintain the Operations Safety Case and assurance framework through operational change, asset modification, incident learning and continual improvement.
