Senior Officer – Occupational Health & Safety
The Senior Officer – OHS is responsible for providing day-to-day support in implementing and maintaining occupational health and safety practices across the company. The role focuses on executing OHS procedures, conducting routine inspections and surveillance, assisting in incident reporting, and maintaining compliance records. This position also supports the preparation of documentation for audits, approvals, and risk assessments, while escalating complex matters to the Specialist or Manager.
Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAssist in Implementing OHS Procedures
- Apply approved OHS policies and procedures at the operational level.
- Provide input on opportunities for process improvements.
Conduct Routine Safety Inspections & Surveillance
- Carry out scheduled workplace inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
- Document findings and elevate issues to the Specialist/Manager.
- Assist in hazard identification and basic risk assessment.
- Maintain updates in the risk register under supervision.
Incident Reporting & Initial Investigations
- Support reporting of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Assist in data collection and documentation for investigations.
Support Company OHS Approvals
- Help prepare and organize required documentation for maintaining OHS approvals.
- Ensure employee OHS records are properly updated.
Assist with Audits and Compliance Checks
- Support preparation of documents for internal/external audits.
- Accompany auditors and respond to basic queries with guidance.
Maintain Records & Staff OHS Approvals
- Maintain personal files of applicants and approval holders.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of safety documentation.
Awareness & Communication
- Assist in delivering OHS awareness sessions and circulating safety communications.
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support OHS operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) or related field.
- Training or certification in OSHAD, NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in OHS roles, preferably in aviation or MRO environment.
- Exposure to audits, inspections, and incident reporting.
Basic knowledge of OHS regulations and standards applicable to aviation/MRO.
Awareness of OSHAD requirements and compliance obligations.
Skills:
Ability to conduct workplace inspections and document findings.
Familiarity with basic incident investigation and reporting processes.
Understanding of safety risk assessment methods.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools for reporting and documentation.
Good organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills.
Strong communication skills to raise awareness and report issues clearly.
