The Lead Technician – Gate 0 & 1 plays a critical role within the Aviation & Aero Engine MRO Operations, specializing in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). This position involves performing thorough non‑destructive inspections on engine parts to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Reporting to the Manager, Senior Supervisor, or Senior Engineer, the Lead Technician supports daily shop operations and upholds the highest standards of quality and precision in testing procedures.
YourResponsibilities
- Perform non‑destructive tests on engine components using approved NDT techniques, dedicating approximately 60% of your time to inspections.
- Collaborate closely with the NDT Supervisor to maintain full compliance with regulatory standards and ensure error‑free execution of all tasks.
- Select appropriate testing techniques tailored to each inspection, clearly defining their limitations and applications.
- Understand and apply relevant NDT standards and specifications effectively to real‑world conditions.
- Prepare or adapt written test instructions for specific applications as required.
- Provide training and guidance to Level 2 personnel in NDT methods, fostering technical skill development.
- Ensure that all inspection manuals and publications are updated to their latest revisions.
- Oversee calibration processes for precision tools and equipment to maintain accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized NDT shop environment to support operational efficiency and safety.
We seek a technically proficient Lead Technician with 3 to 5 years of hands‑on NDT experience in an aviation MRO setting. The ideal candidate holds at minimum an Associate, vocational, or technical degree, with a preference for a bachelor's degree, and possesses PCN: NDT Level II certification according to EN4179/NAS 410 standards.
The candidate demonstrates a systematic and methodological approach to inspections, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. Proficiency in preparing and adapting test instructions and a strong aptitude for mentoring and supporting team members are essential qualities for success in this role.
Additional Information for Internal EmployeesThis full‑time, direct employment opportunity is graded at Level 14 within the Operations department. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities but offers significant influence through technical leadership and mentorship within the Gate 0 & 1 NDT section.
