Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Painting & Coating Inspector to oversee inspection and quality control activities related to protective painting and coating works. The role involves verifying surface preparation, coating application, testing, and final quality in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable standards.
Roles & Responsibilities- Inspect surface preparation, cleaning, blasting, and coating application activities.
- Verify environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and dew point before and during coating application.
- Check coating materials, batch numbers, mixing ratios, application methods, and curing requirements.
- Perform or witness coating inspections and tests including surface profile, Dry Film Thickness (DFT), holiday detection, adhesion, and visual inspection as applicable.
- Ensure coating activities comply with approved specifications, procedures, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Identify coating defects, deviations, and non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.
- Review material certificates, coating reports, test results, and inspection documentation.
- Coordinate with coating applicators, QA/QC teams, engineers, contractors, and client representatives.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and support final inspection, punch-list clearance, and project handover.
- Ensure all inspection activities comply with project quality and HSE requirements.
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials, Corrosion, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in Painting & Coating Inspection for industrial, oil & gas, pipeline, or construction projects.
- Relevant Painting/Coating Inspection Certification such as NACE/AMPP, BGAS-CSWIP, or equivalent is preferred/required as per project requirements.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, abrasive blasting, coating systems, application techniques, and inspection procedures.
- Hands-on experience with coating inspection instruments and testing methods.
- Ability to interpret coating specifications, procedures, drawings, and quality documentation.
- Good communication, reporting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in a site/project environment and comply with applicable HSE requirements.
