About the RoleWe are looking for a Junior Laboratory Chemist & Quality Coordinator to join a geotechnical testing laboratory in Abu Dhabi. The role is ideal for a Chemistry graduate with 1-3 years of laboratory experience who is interested in developing a career in laboratory testing and quality management.
Key Responsibilities- Chemical Testing:
Conduct routine chemical testing of soil samples for sulphates, chlorides, carbonates and pH. - Prepare soil samples through drying, grinding and sieving.
- Prepare reagents, aqueous extracts and acid-soluble solutions.
- Perform basic wet chemistry techniques including titration, gravimetric analysis and potentiometry.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, titrators and analytical balances.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and test results.
- Quality & Compliance:
Support the maintenance of the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO/IEC 17025 and ENAS requirements. - Assist with preparation, review and control of SOPs, quality documents and laboratory records.
- Support internal audits, non-conformance reporting and corrective/preventive actions.
- Assist in monitoring equipment calibration and verification records.
- Support Proficiency Testing (PT) and Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) activities.
- Maintain proper documentation and traceability of laboratory activities.
- Support external audits and accreditation assessments when required.
- Geotechnical Laboratory Training:
Undergo structured on-the-job training in geotechnical soil testing. - Learn and assist with physical soil testing procedures.
- Support laboratory technicians with soil sample preparation and testing as required.
- Develop the ability to work across both chemical and geotechnical laboratory activities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or a related field.
- 0-3 years of laboratory experience; fresh graduates with strong practical laboratory exposure may also be considered.
- Experience in soil, construction materials or civil testing laboratories is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory chemical analysis and wet chemistry techniques.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling.
- Exposure to ISO/IEC 17025 is highly preferred.
- Previous exposure to laboratory quality documentation or internal audits is an advantage.
- ISO/IEC 17025 Internal Auditor certification/training is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with the right background.
- Good documentation, organization and record-keeping skills.
- Willingness to learn geotechnical soil testing.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently as well as within a laboratory team.
Pay:
Up to AED4,500.00 per month
