Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant on a 1‑year renewable contract to join research on obesity mapping at the Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. The successful candidate will assist with research project management, field work, data collection and management, and support the research team in a variety of activities.

Responsibilities

Prepare grants and ethics applications

Recruit and interview participants in the UAE

Support the Principal Investigator and research group in implementing the research project

Assist in developing proposals for research funding and ethics applications

Engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the research unit and the Institute

Contribute to intervention mapping, obesity behavioural risk factors, and lifestyle‑related studies

Carry out administrative and management work associated with the research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator

Assist in qualitative and quantitative data analysis using appropriate software

Write research proposals / grant proposals and ethics applications

Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have a master’s in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.

Expected Skills

Excellent computer and numerical ability
Excellent statistical and analytical skills, including Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Good skills in NVivo or other qualitative software
Previous experience in research proposal writing and publishing papers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues
Good interpersonal and team‑working skills with flexibility on working hours

Salary

8,000–10,000 per month.
