Research Assistant; Biocomposites

Job Description

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University is calling for a Research Assistant to work in the field of biocomposites. The candidate will be supported by a research grant for four months and may extend based on performance. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Jawaid.

• Preparation of raw materials from biomass
• Characterisation of biomass
• Fabrication and characterisation of biocomposites and nanocomposites
• Testing of materials and biocomposites/nanocomposites using advanced equipment
• Present and report research results at national and international conferences and publish scientific results in peer‑reviewed Q1 journals

• Skilled in material science/polymer composites
• Research experience in fabrication and characterisation of biocomposites/nanocomposites
• Ability to characterize composites and nanocomposites
• Good technical writing skills and good publication records
• Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role

• Background in material science/polymer composites or related area
• Demonstrable willingness to support work in the lab
• Adaptability and flexibility to the continuous changes associated with research demands
