Biological and Life Sciences Division - Open Rank Faculty Positions Location
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Open DateJul 09, 2026
at 11:59 PM Eastern TimeDescriptionThe Biological and Life Sciences Division at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) leads research at the intersection of Genomics, Multi-Omics, Personalized Medicine, Precision Therapeutics, Epidemiology, and Artificial Intelligence. A flagship initiative, the Human Phenotype Project, is a large‑scale longitudinal cohort and biobank designed to uncover novel molecular markers with diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic value. Participants undergo comprehensive data collection—medical history, lifestyle and nutritional habits, vital signs, anthropometrics, blood tests, continuous glucose and sleep monitoring, and multi‑omic profiling (genetics, transcriptomics, microbiomics, metabolomics, immune markers).
Advanced AI, medical, and computational models are then applied to reveal disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers, and build predictive models for disease onset and progression, ultimately informing personalized prevention strategies and innovative therapeutics.
- Computational and Systems Biology
- Medical and Health Informatics
- Multi-omics and Integrative Data Analysis
- Population-level Cohort and EHR Analysis
- Biomedical Imaging
Faculty will have full access to unique datasets, including the Human Phenotype Project, enabling research that advances precision medicine. Another national initiative, the Emirati Genome Project (EGP), maps the UAE population’s genetic profile to support personalized healthcare and public policy.
- Existing genetic models largely based on European populations are less accurate for Emiratis
- Enables earlier diagnosis and targeted prevention strategies for high‑risk individuals
- Supports equitable, data‑driven healthcare tailored to the local population
- Contributes to national research, public health policy, and future drug discovery
MBZUAI is a world‑leading university dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence as a global force for good, fostering innovation and independent inquiry across disciplines.
