Path Kawader: Research Assistant – Mars and Space Exploration

NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Kawader Research Assistant position in Mars and Space Exploration within the Center for Astrophysics and Space Science.

The successful candidate will work with the Center’s Space Exploration Laboratory and contribute to research investigating the atmosphere and surface of Mars using observations from the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) “Hope” probe.

The Research Assistant will analyze data from the Hope mission and other Mars missions and conduct simulations using NYU Abu Dhabi’s high-performance computing (HPC) system. The successful candidate will also contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations, supporting the dissemination of research findings to the global scientific community.

Full-time paid research position for up to 3 years.

Hands‑on experience analyzing data from the Emirates Mars Mission “Hope” probe and other Mars missions.

Research experience in planetary science, scientific computing, data analysis, and machine learning.

Analyze Hope mission data to study the atmosphere and surface of Mars.

Assist with the analysis of data from other Mars missions to provide complementary observations of the Martian atmosphere.

Run simulations using NYU Abu Dhabi’s high-performance computing (HPC) system to support the interpretation of observations from the Hope probe.

Assist with the preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations to communicate research findings to the global scientific community.

This position is supervised by Ian Dobbs‑Dixon and Dimitra Atri in the Center for Astrophysics and Space Science at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.

Experience with Python and machine learning.

Master’s degree in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.

Experience working on a data analysis project involving Python and machine learning.
