Healthcare Technician, Medical Specialist
The Spine Technician is responsible for providing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during cranial and spine surgeries. This role requires advanced knowledge of neurophysiology
, real time monitoring skills, and the ability to work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the operating room team to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
- Neuro monitoring Support Perform real time intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) for
- cranial and spinal procedures, including SSEPs, MEPs, EMG, EEG, BAEPs, and related modalities.
- Case Coverage Independently manage and cover assigned neuromonitoring cases across operating rooms, ensuring continuous and accurate data acquisition.
- Neurophysiology Expertise Apply advanced neurophysiology principles to interpret signals, detect changes, and communicate findings promptly to the surgical team.
- Equipment Management Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain neuromonitoring equipment and electrodes before and during surgery.
- Clinical Communication Provide clear, timely updates to surgeons and anesthesiologists regarding neurophysiological status and any significant changes.
- Documentation Record monitoring data, events, and interventions accurately in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Patient Preparation Assist with patient positioning, electrode placement, and pre operative assessments related to neuromonitoring.
- Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to OR safety protocols, infection control, and professional practice guidelines.
- Neurophysiology Degree Bachelor s degree in Neurophysiology, Biomedical Science, or related field.
- IONM Certification CNIM certification preferred (or eligibility to obtain).
- Clinical Experience Experience in intraoperative neuromonitoring for cranial and spine surgeries.
- Technical Skills Proficiency with neuromonitoring systems, signal interpretation, and OR workflow.
- Communication Skills Ability to communicate effectively in high pressure surgical environments.
