The Migration Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, executing, and validating end‑to‑end data migration activities across on‑premise and cloud environments. The role requires strong hands‑on expertise in ETL database technologies and migration frameworks, along with the ability to handle complex data transformation and modernization journeys.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute data migration strategies including extraction, transformation, validation, and loading (ETL).
- Hands‑on ETL work with SSIS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Postgre
SQL to deliver high‑quality migration outcomes. - Perform impact analysis, data mapping, and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Optimize and troubleshoot ETL jobs, SQL queries, pipelines, and batch processes.
- Support the full migration lifecycle (assessment, planning, execution, testing, cutover, and post‑migration validation).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including application owners, infrastructure teams, and business SMEs.
- Prepare documentation such as data mapping sheets, migration checklists, and validation reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, data governance, and audit requirements.
- Participate in migration projects involving on‑premises to cloud (AWS, Azure) transformations where applicable.
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and external partners on migration progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in databases, ETL tools, or cloud platforms (preferred).
- Strong hands‑on experience in SSIS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgre
SQL. - Solid understanding of ETL concepts and data transformation logic.
- Proven experience in end‑to‑end migration projects.
- Strong SQL programming, performance tuning, and debugging skills.
- Experience with other ETL tools (Informatica, Data Stage, Talend, etc.).
- Exposure to .NET technologies for custom components or automation.
- Experience with OBIEE reporting environments.
- Hands‑on expertise in cloud migrations involving AWS or Azure (preferred).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Dev Ops, or script‑based automation.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex workloads.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
