Senior Algorithm Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Algorithm Design Engineer to join a highly skilled software development team working on advanced command, control and mission‑critical applications.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of sophisticated algorithms used within complex software systems, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative technical solutions for high‑performance environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in algorithm development, prototyping, analysis and implementation while collaborating closely with software engineers, systems engineers and technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.

• Design and develop algorithms for complex software applications.
• Produce detailed Algorithm Description Documents and associated technical documentation.
• Develop algorithm prototypes using Java.
• Define and execute test cases for prototype and production software.
• Perform modelling, simulation and data analysis using tools such as MATLAB and Python.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering and technical leadership teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Support the implementation and integration of algorithms into production software.
• Work within multidisciplinary engineering teams including Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integration & Test, Simulation, Quality Assurance and Configuration Management.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified during development, testing and system integration.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes and technical solutions.

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• At least seven years' experience in software systems engineering or algorithm development.
• Strong experience designing algorithms for complex software systems.
• Excellent Java programming skills and strong understanding of object‑oriented programming principles.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and debugging abilities.
• Experience producing high‑quality technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional level written and spoken English.

• Experience developing algorithms for aerospace, defence or other safety‑critical systems.
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Neural Networks.
• Experience working within Agile development environments (Scrum, Kanban or Lean).
• Programming experience with Python and/or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with version control and Dev Ops tools such as Git Lab and Jira.
• Experience working with Linux, RTOS, embedded systems or distributed software architectures.
