Solutions Architect Deployment Strategist

Planet is a global space and data company that designs, builds, and operates the largest satellite imaging constellation. In our Professional Services team, we help Defense & Intelligence customers adopt and extend the Planet Platform.

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to lead the implementation, integration, and analysis of new software and data products for D&I customers. The role involves embedded customer work, training, translating requirements, designing workflows, and acting as liaison to Planet’s product team. This is a full‑time, in‑office position in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 5 days a week.

• Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions
• Break down ambiguous, high‑stakes problems into solvable components
• Leverage analytical skills to deliver products to D&I customers and support mission requirements
• Design workflows, define data models, configure integrations, and help define tooling aligned to the customer’s mission
• Train users, iterate in real time, and ensure Planet solutions become mission‑critical
• Translate operational requirements into actionable product feedback for engineering teams
• Communicate technical capabilities to customers in clear, mission‑focused language
• Rapidly prototype, test, and adjust workflows to match operational needs
• Map high‑level strategy with decision makers by collaborating with analysts on workflow debugging
• Work closely with customer teams to understand workflows, pain points, and mission priorities

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience supporting D&I customers with systems integration
• Fluency in Golang, Python, PostgreSQL, and React (or equivalent)
• Experience with cloud deployments (GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Solid problem‑solving and systems‑thinking skills
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to learn new technical domains and tools quickly
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high‑pressure environments
• Deep curiosity and willingness to dive into operational details
• Fluency in translating between technical and non‑technical audiences
• Experience scaling and maintaining production systems

• Experience working with defense and intelligence organizations in the UAE
• Systems integration experience with multi‑domain/multi‑level security architectures
• Knowledge of JavaScript mapping libraries (Open Layers, Leaflet, ArcGIS API), Google Earth Engine SDK
• Experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, SQL) and distributed databases (No

• Experience in geopolitics and data science
• Ability to quickly adopt new technologies
• Experience building analytical products from complex datasets
• Experience with geospatial technologies and data
• GEOINT experience, imagery exploitation and analysis
• Fluent in multiple languages
