We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Game Developer | Game Systems Designer to design, develop, and refine engaging gameplay systems and interactive experiences. This role combines game programming with systems design, requiring strong technical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and the ability to translate gameplay concepts into polished, scalable, and enjoyable game features.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, implement, and maintain gameplay systems and interactive game features.
- Translate game concepts, mechanics, and design documentation into functional gameplay experiences.
- Develop core gameplay systems including player movement, combat, progression, inventory, abilities, quests, and rewards.
- Collaborate with game designers, artists, animators, producers, writers, and QA teams throughout development.
- Design balanced and engaging game systems that support the overall player experience.
- Create gameplay prototypes to test new mechanics, features, and design concepts.
- Develop reusable and scalable gameplay frameworks and systems.
- Implement game logic, interactions, events, state systems, and gameplay rules.
- Design player progression systems, economies, rewards, leveling, and unlock mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain systems for character attributes, skills, equipment, abilities, and progression.
- Analyze gameplay loops and identify opportunities to improve engagement, pacing, and player retention.
- Balance gameplay mechanics, difficulty curves, rewards, resources, and progression systems.
- Work with designers to define clear system specifications, rules, dependencies, and player interactions.
- Integrate gameplay systems with UI, animation, audio, physics, networking, and other game components.
- Debug and resolve gameplay, performance, logic, and system-integration issues.
- Conduct play testing and analyze player feedback to refine gameplay systems.
- Monitor gameplay metrics and use data-driven insights to improve system performance and player engagement.
- Optimize game systems for performance, scalability, memory usage, and responsiveness.
- Support multiplayer and online gameplay systems where applicable.
- Implement networking-related gameplay logic and synchronization where required.
- Develop tools and workflows that improve the efficiency of game designers and development teams.
- Maintain clean, modular, documented, and maintainable game code.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical and design standards.
- Collaborate with QA teams to identify, reproduce, prioritize, and resolve gameplay issues.
- Support live-game updates, feature releases, patches, balancing changes, and post-launch improvements.
- Research emerging game-development technologies, gameplay trends, tools, and design techniques.
- Evaluate existing game systems and recommend technical or design improvements.
- Participate in sprint planning, feature estimation, milestone reviews, and development meetings.
- Maintain technical and design documentation for gameplay systems and related features.
- Help establish best practices for gameplay programming and systems design across projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience in game development, gameplay programming, systems design, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of gameplay mechanics, game loops, player progression, and systems design principles.
- Strong programming skills in C++, C#, or other relevant game-development languages.
- Experience with game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, or equivalent platforms.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, software architecture, and design patterns.
