Job Description
As a Perception Data Engineer (Robotics) supporting Quantum Talent Group in Abu Dhabi, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of perception data pipelines, sensor calibration workflows, and dataset curation for autonomous platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities include processing camera, LiDAR, IMU, and GNSS data streams from physical robots and autonomous test vehicles, implementing precise sensor synchronization, extrinsic/intrinsic calibration, coordinate transformations, and point cloud processing, executing LiDAR-camera projection and ego-motion compensation algorithms, extracting and cleaning perception datasets from rosbag and MCAP recording files, and collaborating closely with robotics software engineers, perception researchers, and AI squads.
You will utilize your proactive troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex data synchronization bottlenecks under strict project delivery milestones. Furthermore, you will manage application requirements by sending your updated resume via direct email to Jean Florendo , ensuring strict compliance with the 2-5 years robotics experience and Abu Dhabi on-site requirements.
- Design, build, and optimize data processing pipelines for camera, LiDAR, IMU, and GNSS sensor streams.
- Implement robust sensor synchronization, multi-modal calibration, coordinate transformations, and 3D point cloud processing.
- Develop and execute LiDAR-camera projection algorithms and ego-motion compensation routines for moving autonomous platforms.
- Extract, process, and curate clean perception datasets from raw rosbag and MCAP recording files for machine learning training.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data packet loss, timestamp drift, and calibration discrepancies across robotic sensor rigs.
- Collaborate seamlessly with robotics software engineering, perception, localization, and mapping squads.
- Author meticulous data processing scripts, calibration runbooks, dataset documentation, and validation reports.
- Support testing campaigns, track recording sessions, and validate sensor health on physical robots and autonomous test vehicles.
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of progressive professional experience in robotics, perception engineering, or autonomous vehicle data pipelines.
- Strong, demonstrable hands-on software development proficiency in Python and ROS/ROS2 frameworks.
- Deep practical operational experience working with physical robots, autonomous vehicles, and multi-modal sensor suites.
- Solid practical mastery of camera, LiDAR, IMU, and GNSS data processing, calibration, and spatial coordinate transforms.
- Proven experience handling large-scale sensor recordings, rosbag files, and MCAP log formats.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities under complex hardware-software integration conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with strong cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Mandatory legal work eligibility and physical availability for full-time on-site operations in Abu Dhabi.
- Master's degree or specialized postgraduate coursework in Robotics, Computer Vision, or Autonomous Systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with C++ programming for high-performance sensor data processing and point cloud libraries (PCL, Open3D).
