Overall Purpose of The Job

The owner of the Service Delivery offering to V.Ships customers has full authority and accountability for decisions that ensure the customer receives a fully functioning ship and crew, thereby enabling top quality operational performance. The Fleet Manager leads, motivates and coaches the Fleet Cell team and the vessel crew, ensuring customer satisfaction. This role is critical to ensure ships are operated to the highest standards, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and deliver flawless service.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks
  • Safety is our first priority; the Fleet Manager has authority and accountability for decisions that ensure constant safe operation and environmental protection.
  • Responsibility for delivering full ship management service to the customer; the Fleet Manager is the link between the customer and the ship.
  • Own the product delivered to V.Ships customers, making decisions to ensure flawless service delivery.
  • Lead the Fleet Cell team and onboard leadership to deliver flawless services while maintaining the highest safety standards.
  • Train, encourage, mentor, and develop the fleet cell team and onboard leadership to grow skills ashore and on board.
  • Build strong customer relationships, engage regularly, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Use appropriate tools (Shipsure, CTD, CSP, etc.) and periodic meetings to ensure the Fleet Cell operates efficiently with no client complaints.
  • Report and address any safety, environmental, or operational issues promptly.
  • Plan dry‑dock, vacation, and other absences to keep the Fleet Cell operating efficiently.
  • Ensure third‑party inspections (SIRE, CDI, PSC, etc.) are passed with minimal observations.
  • Maintain adequate, competent staffing and raise concerns when support is lacking.
  • Approve the Fleet Cell’s annual vessel operating budgets and provide the customer with up‑to‑date financial and operational updates.
  • Promote V.Group services and pursue relevant business opportunities with customers.
  • Advocate Ship Sure usage, support colleagues, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.

Essential
  • Recognised maritime qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a marine related company, preferably as Technical Superintendent or Vessel Manager.
  • Good communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, interact and lead people at all levels.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to produce creative and effective solutions to problems.
  • Commitment to delivering quality service, controlling costs/budgets, and providing value for money.
Desirable
  • Coaching and mentoring skills.
