Giraffe Children’s Services provides high-quality care and support to vulnerable children with
* learning difficulties* (LD). We are opening a brand-new children’s home in Great Harwood and are seeking an exceptional
* Registered Children’s Home Manager
* to lead, inspire, and shape this exciting new service.

* About the Role
* As the Registered Manager, you will have full autonomy for the leadership, development, and day-to-day management of the home. You will ensure the highest standards of care, safety, and compliance, while fostering a warm, supportive environment for children with learning difficulties.
You will:

* Inspire and lead a dedicated team to deliver child-centred, therapeutic care.

* Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

* Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and compassion.

* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to support each child’s individual needs.

* Key Responsibilities
* * Leadership & Culture
* * Build a strong, motivated, stable staff team.

* Model therapeutic care, emotional intelligence, and high standards.

* Promote a nurturing home environment that celebrates children’s progress.

* Ensure staff receive regular supervision, support, and training.

* Quality & Compliance
* * Maintain full compliance with all legislation, standards, and internal policies.

* Oversee Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 processes.

* Ensure accurate, high-quality recording and reporting.

* Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and drive continuous improvement.

* Safeguarding
* * Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home.

* Ensure safe decision-making and strong risk management.

* Work closely with safeguarding partners and external agencies.

* Care & Outcomes
* * Ensure personalised care plans are detailed, ambitious, and regularly reviewed.

* Champion a trauma-informed and child-centred practice model.

* Support children to access education, health, and therapeutic resources.

* Operational Management
* * Manage staffing, rotas, and workforce planning including recruitment.

* Oversee budgets, resources, and the physical environment of the home.

* Ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, and compliant.

* Who We Are Looking For
* * Essential:
* * Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

* Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a children’s residential home.

* Strong understanding of
* learning difficulties*, therapeutic care, and trauma-informed practice.

* Deep working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

* Proven ability to develop teams and drive high-quality practice.

* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

* Desirable:
* * Experience opening or leading a new home.

* Experience working specifically with children with learning difficulties.

* Strong understanding of Ofsted’s inspection frameworks.
