Senior Product Environmental Compliance Specialist (Hybrid - Acton, MA)
We are looking for a self‑motivated Senior Product Environmental Compliance Specialist to join the Insulet team. The position will monitor global environmental product regulations, interpret and communicate scope and impacts, support compliance activities, and define regulatory requirements for the business. The role works closely with Regulatory, Sustainability, Engineering, Market Access, and Quality departments to ensure business owners understand existing environmental product requirements, upcoming requirements, trends, gaps, and regulatory risk that may impact product decisions and/or market access.
The Senior Product Environmental Compliance Specialist needs to thrive in a fast‑paced hypergrowth environment, communicate clearly, early and frequently, demonstrate the ability to execute in a deadline‑driven environment, and be able to influence change beyond requirements. Duties & Responsibilities- Manage all applicable environmental regulations for new and existing product life cycles.
- Provide guidelines, best practices, communication, and support as the environmental product compliance subject‑matter expert.
- Give regulatory guidance to global Insulet sites and appropriate business owners on compliance with local product environmental regulations.
- Lead all product environmental stewardship registrations and permitting applications, including reporting, with support from the Regulatory Affairs team and other cross‑functional teams.
- Manage execution of compliance by developing reports, collecting data, and submitting to local regulatory authorities per local regulations.
- Respond to inquiries from external stakeholders related to environmental compliance.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering to ensure a cohesive approach toward product requirements definition and quality management.
- Develop long‑range plans to support product environmental stewardship compliance strategy.
- Advocate on behalf of Insulet’s Product Stewardship with agencies, trade associations, peer companies, and governmental organizations.
- Mentor others by sharing knowledge, expertise, and providing feedback and guidance.
- Understanding of global product stewardship requirements (e.g., global EPR, takeback, and recycling).
- Knowledge of environmental battery regulations/requirements (e.g., EU Battery Directive).
- Experience with market‑access environmental requirements (e.g., pharmacy store/shelf packaging).
- Demonstrated experience working with NRTL labs or take products through the certification process.
- Strong understanding of reading regulations and FDA requirements, including proper document control.
- Familiarity with best practices when implementing compliance processes and procedures.
- Independent, organized, and self‑driven with strong planning and organizing skills.
- Quality‑focused with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Analytical, problem‑solving, and project‑management capabilities.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related engineering.
- Master’s in policy, materials, engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of related work experience in regulatory or product compliance.
- Experience in Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, Electronics, or related industry preferred.
- Strong understanding of EU CE marking and its interplay with medical device CE marking.
- Experience with PLM systems (Arena preferred) and database management.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Smartsheets.
- Travel – 0‑10%
- Hybrid role; on‑site work required from an Insulet office.
NOTE:
This position is eligible for hybrid working arrangements and requires on‑site work from an Insulet office.
US base salary range: $89,400 – $134,100.
